Staying at home with the kids

Melissa and I really don't want to get all political on this blog, the "politics scene" is so ugly these days and this blog is about the lovely things in life! So, without getting into the ins and outs of this "war on women" going on or how much money our President seems to think is required for a mother to stay home. I just had to say something for all the moms out there, including myself, who've made the choice to stay home and raise their children. My husband and I are so blessed to have the ability for me to stay home, but it isn't a "luxury". We struggle with our finances and have willingly let go of anything resembling our lives before parenthood. We have made a lot of sacrifices and honestly, there are months when some bills just can't be paid, but we know that God will provide and that He has led us in this decision for our children. Our family will continue to grow. I will homeschool our children, teaching them first the Kingdom of God. And I will  joyfully face the challenges that arise. (I put that in for my own edification, smile and sigh)!
Someday, the weight of my debt (mortgage, car loan, student loans, etc.) that my husband willingly took on his shoulders will be lifted, someday he will have jeans without holes in them, and someday I will be able to enjoy a pedicure! Until that day, we keep "pressing on" (Philippians 3:12), trusting in the Lord. But believe you me, staying at home is harder than any job I've had. It tries you physically, emotionally, and intellectually, 24 hours a day, it is work! For the first time in my adult life, I don't bring home a paycheck, and there are times I struggle to see my value. But, I wouldn't trade it for a millisecond of my "old life", for I know that my work is truly eternal and the rewards are indescribable.

Here's to all the mothers out there (and dads too) who sacrifice daily for the sake of their children!
